An explosion occurred inside a house in Lanús, a city in the Buenos Aires province, causing material damage and frightening neighbors. As a result of the incident, a man is hospitalized in critical condition with 90% of his body burned.
The explosion, followed by a fire, happened early Monday morning in a residence located at the intersection of 1° de Mayo and Molinedo streets in Lanús, when a car exploded inside the home's garage, surprising the owners and neighbors.
Volunteer firefighters from Lanús, along with local police, responded to the scene and worked for several hours to control the fire.
It was reported that the fire affected both floors of the house. Regarding the injured, it was highlighted that three people were taken to the hospital, one of them in serious condition, according to the Argentine News Agency.
"I heard an explosion, I went out to the balcony and saw my brother-in-law catching fire. The neighbors helped him, while I was fighting the smoke to get the kids out. We were trapped for half an hour, we couldn't breathe, and I said we weren't getting out of here," said Gerardo, one of the victims.
In an interview with the TN news channel, the man stated that his relative was transferred to the Evita Hospital and is in serious condition with burns on 90% of his body. The first images after the explosion show that the entire house was blackened by soot and intense flames.
